DESCRIPTION:We’re having a “pop up” youth event! Trunk or Treat at Children’s Mercy is on Sunday\, October 27\, and WE HAVE A SPOT reserved for our decorated vehicle. youth volunteers and candy!  We go right after Mass and finish around 3pm. Bonnie will have sign up sheets in the back of Church on Sunday\, October 6\, 13\, and 20. Youth from junior high age on up are invited to pass out candy and toys to the children who are patients at Children’s Mercy and their families. Kid-friendly costumes are encouraged (no war costumes or death-themed costumes\, please). Do we have some adult chaperones to help with this? PARISHIONERS ARE INVITED TO BRING HALLOWEEN CANDY TO CHURCH. WE WILL COLLECT ON SUNDAYS\, SO WATCH FOR THE WHITE BASKETS! Trunk or Treat has been a long time event for our youth in past years. Please help us restart this event! Good for service hours\, too!

A video presentation in preparation for voting based on \n\n\nCatholic Social Teaching by Fr. Mark Miller CPPS will be shown. Bill Cordaro and Theresa \n\n\nTorres will facilitate the faith sharing groups that follow the presentation. We ask for a free \n\n\nwill offering for Fr. Mark’s presentation. \n\n\n“Pope Francis makes it clear: In our participation in public life\, we are called to be multi-issue \n\n\nvoters\, not single-issue voters\, with the ultimate aim of supporting the common good. This \n\n\nworkshop will provide you with resources to educate yourself as a faithful voter on the issues \n\n\nand concerns that are “equally sacred.” We will walk through the most pressing issues of the \n\n\nupcoming election\, looking at them through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching. The \n\n\nworkshop focuses on issues\, not political parties or candidates. Catholic Social Teaching arises \n\n\nout of the long and rich tradition that includes the written teachings of the Church and the \n\n\nwitness of Christians and people of good will\, committed to proclaiming the love of the \n\n\nGospel and the justice of God’s kingdom. DESCRIPTION:We have had a CHANGE in dates for our Family Catechesis Program. The materials are arriving later than we first thought\, so we will meet on SUNDAY\, OCTOBER 20\, following the 10 am Mass. That’s the THIRD Sunday of October. It will be a “meet and greet” meeting\, and the materials will be there to be taken home. We’ll meet in church\, parents and children together. We’ll have a little prayer together and then a short “getting to know you” time. Materials should all arrive by then and be ready for you to take home and begin! We will then try to have our gatherings on second Sundays in November\, December\, January and so on.
