We welcome anyone who can attend Sunday Mass at St. JAMES AT 10:00 A.M. Our celebrant is Fr. Garry Richmeier C.PP.S. Considering that many parishioners are still experiencing the effects of the COVID-19 virus and other infections, if you plan to join us in person, we recommend wearing a mask if you exhibit symptoms or are immunocompromised.
We continue to live stream our 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass, reaching out to parishioners and friends who can’t attend in person. Here is the link to the live stream on our Facebook page for St. James Midtown, KC. A recording of the live-streamed Mass can also be accessed at https://stjkc.org/sundays-at-st-james.
MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO READ AND REFLECT ON THE READINGS BEFORE MASS. READINGS FOR THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST, SUNDAY, JUNE 22, 2025.
First Reading – Genesis 14:18-20: In this passage, Melchizedek—king of Salem and priest of God Most High—brings forth bread and wine, blesses Abram by acknowledging the sovereignty of God as the creator and deliverer, and receives a tithe from Abram as a sign of reverence and gratitude.
Reflection Question: How does Abram’s willingness to offer a tenth of his possessions in response to Melchizedek’s blessing challenge us to consider our own responses to recognizing and honoring divine grace?
Second Reading – 1 Corinthians 11:23-26: In this passage, Paul recounts how Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper—using bread and wine as symbols of His body and blood—to serve as a sacred memorial of His sacrificial love and a proclamation of hope until His return.
Reflection Question: How does your personal participation in the Lord’s Supper deepen your understanding of Christ’s sacrifice and inspire you to live out that love and hope in your everyday relationships?
Gospel – Luke 9:11b-17: Jesus demonstrated the abundance and provision of God’s Kingdom by healing the people and miraculously feeding five thousand with only five loaves and two fish, leaving behind a surplus that testified to divine generosity.
Reflection Question: In moments when resources seem scarce, how can we deepen our faith to recognize and trust in the unexpected ways that God provides for us?

St. Monica Catholic Church is hosting a Career Development Summit at 1616 Paseo, Kansas City, MO, on June 28 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The target audience ranges from middle school to adulthood. Middle school students need to be aware of the benefits and opportunities that will prepare them for the future. Do you know anyone whose career plans have been derailed? Do you know someone looking for a job? Do you know any middle school students who need to know about the A+ Program, or early College options? What about preparing for a trade that leads to a sustainable family income? Please send them to St. Monica on Saturday, June 28, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Many schools, employers, and agencies will be represented.
Please share this information with all your contacts. Thank you so much for your assistance. Questions? Contact: Ms. M. Jenise Comer, jcomer5668@gmail.com.
