Becoming a Catholic (OCIA) – Nov 2 at Precious Blood Renewal Center

We wanted to a take just a few minutes of your time to share information with you about our annual retreat for OCIA/RCIA inquires and sponsors, which this year will be on Saturday Nov. 2 at the Renewal Center. Here is a short blurb about the retreat and a flyer about the event is also attached.. Next are some thoughts about the retreat from Fr. Ron Will, C.PP.S, the retreat facilitator.

Retreat for OCIA Inquirers and Sponsors

• Saturday, Nov. 2
• 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Inquirers and their sponsors will meet other people on the same journey from other parishes. We will teach tools and ways of discernment. The day will emphasize building: relationships with God and fellow parishioners. $40 per person (includes lunch). Scholarships available. Learn More.

Some thoughts from Fr. Ron:

• Many parishes do a retreat for their candidates and Elect before Easter Initiations. Some do them in their own parish, others go to Conception Abbey.
• We do not wish to compete with those retreats, but many parishes have taken advantage of our retreat in the fall, around the time of the Rite of Acceptance.
• The retreat aims to enrich and supplement the work you do.
• We help your inquirers understand what the call to holiness means, how the RCIA/OCIA process is about growing in a relationship with God through prayer and not just learning the doctrines of the Catholic Church.
• It makes them aware that there are other inquirers on similar journeys in the different parishes; they are not alone on this journey.
• We explain the discernment process which leads one to ask for the next step in the initiation process.
