Trip to the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum

On Sunday, December 15, we are offering a trip to the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum to view Catholic/Christian art focusing on Our Lady and the Christ Child. We will also view the magnificent Bronze Doors, replicas of the Baptistery doors of the Duomo (Cathedral) in Florence, Italy. The 17-foot-tall gilded doors, weighing 4 1/2 tons, are casts of the original doors created in the 15th-century workshop of sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti for the east facade of the Baptistery of the Duomo (cathedral) in Florence, Italy.
The Gallery will be decorated for Christmas with a beautiful Nativity display. We will have docent led tours beginning at 1:00 on Sunday, December 15, 2024. We will have sign ups for this opportunity after Masses beginning this Sunday, November 10. Please sign up soon so that the Museum can accommodate our group.
